About Me
I grew up in Rancho Cucamonga, which is about 40 miles east of Los Angeles. I earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English from Cal Poly Pomona. My areas of specialization are teaching English as a second language and 20th Century American literature.
I love to travel and spent my junior year of college studying British literature and linguistics at the University of Hull in England. In the summer of 2006, I taught English to elementary school children in Beijing, China.
Before moving to Bakersfield, I taught English and ESL at Chaffey College, Rio Hondo College, Citrus College, and Fullerton College, all of which are located in Southern California. In the fall of 2008, I joined the Academic Development Department at Bakersfield College teaching reading, writing, and study skills courses.
I'm married with one daughter, a son on the way, and several "furbabies," including two dogs (a Lab-German Shepherd mix and a Pit Bull), three very spoiled cats, and a snake (a ball python). In my free time, I love to spend time with my family, shop, garden, knit, visit museums, watch movies, and (of course) read.
